Practice with Baby

Rémy just loves this doll that she drags around. The past month or so we've been doing all kinds of things with the baby. We take the baby on walks in the doll stroller, we change the baby's diaper, we give the baby a pacifier or bottle. Sometimes we change the baby's clothes and put on socks and shoes. We give the baby hugs and mama and daddy give the baby kisses. When it's nap time we take the baby and put him in Ben's crib and put a blanket on him. Rémy's never been a very affectionate baby...not much for cuddling or kisses, so we're having to train her, in a sense, to be more affectionate. Anyway, after working with her for about a month of all of us taking turns trying to kiss the baby she is finally starting to warm up to the idea. She even gave me a kiss on the cheek today! Here's a video that we caught the first night she started giving kisses....

And a picture of the three of us...before we turn into four...

The End is Near(ing)

When I went in to the Dr. today we scheduled to be induced on Tuesday, February 24 if he's not here before then. YAY! There's some relief in sight! We can't wait to hold this Baby boy, kiss him and bring him home!

Boy's Room on a Budget

Decoupagéd crib, Orange curtain

Lamp from Ikea, Photo frame from Hobby Lobby

Decoupagéd drawers, 2 metal signs, metal mail box

2 shelves from Ikea, Pop-up book, action figures, USPS stamps, sprayed letters

Decoupagéd changing table, boxes from Ikea, cloth diapers made by Debbe

This little boy's room has been so much fun to create and to watch come together. We knew we wanted a room, for both of our children, that is not a nursery but a room that they can grow into and grow with.

$40 Crib & Changing Table purchased on craigslist
$15 Comics from Half Price Books
$16 Metal signs from Half Price Books
$22 Orange fabric from Ikea for crib bumper, changing table pad, window panel
$10 Green crib sheet from BabiesRus
$4 Marvel superhero pop-up book from Half Price Books
$2 Silver lamp from Ikea
$16 2 Green storage boxes, 2 brushed metal storage boxes
$3.50 2 spools of green grosgrain ribbon for crib bumper, curtain
$4.00 Green and orange picture frame from Hobby Lobby
_______Bottom Line
$132.50

The acrylic paints were passed on to us by Walker's mom, this probably would have added another $20 to the cost. I gave the shelves to Walker for Valentine's day last year, but we never got around to hanging them. The letters B E & N were given to us by my mom and I just sprayed them with silver paint leftover from Rémy's tricycyle. The chest of drawers was Walker's when he lived at home, then Rémy's for extra storage, now Ben's.

I've also been eye-ing a large area rug for the room, but haven't decided yet if it would match....What do you think? Princeton Multi Rug or the Tinkilicious ABC Rug

I'd also like to paint a text bubble somewhere in the room that says, "Time to wake up and save the world, SuperBen."

The only thing we lack is to paint some storage boxes with silver paint that will go under his bed.

Peek

a

Boo!

I see you!

Psalm 40

For the director of music. Of David. A psalm.
1 I waited patiently for the LORD;
he turned to me and heard my cry.

2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.

3 He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear
and put their trust in the LORD.

4 Blessed is the man
who makes the LORD his trust,
who does not look to the proud,
to those who turn aside to false gods. [a]

5 Many, O LORD my God,
are the wonders you have done.
The things you planned for us
no one can recount to you;
were I to speak and tell of them,
they would be too many to declare.

6 Sacrifice and offering you did not desire,
but my ears you have pierced [b] , [c] ;
burnt offerings and sin offerings
you did not require.

7 Then I said, "Here I am, I have come—
it is written about me in the scroll. [d]

8 I desire to do your will, O my God;
your law is within my heart."

9 I proclaim righteousness in the great assembly;
I do not seal my lips,
as you know, O LORD.

10 I do not hide your righteousness in my heart;
I speak of your faithfulness and salvation.
I do not conceal your love and your truth
from the great assembly.

11 Do not withhold your mercy from me, O LORD;
may your love and your truth always protect me.

12 For troubles without number surround me;
my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see.
They are more than the hairs of my head,
and my heart fails within me.

13 Be pleased, O LORD, to save me;
O LORD, come quickly to help me.

14 May all who seek to take my life
be put to shame and confusion;
may all who desire my ruin
be turned back in disgrace.

15 May those who say to me, "Aha! Aha!"
be appalled at their own shame.

16 But may all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you;
may those who love your salvation always say,
"The LORD be exalted!"

17 Yet I am poor and needy;
may the Lord think of me.
You are my help and my deliverer;
O my God, do not delay.

Walker handed me this to read last night, along with a cup of ice. I thought it was a timely reminder for me.

Waiting Game

Well, there have been three false alarms this week. We're all wearing down around here. Here are a couple of videos taken yesterday. Walker took the one of Rémy making her way out the doggie door...in addition to the "ruff, ruff" noises she always makes this is even more proof that our daughter thinks she is a dog.

Debbe came over to help watch Rémy so Walker could finish Ben's room. I ended up coming home from work early with 5 min. contractions...so this was taken while I was timing contractions before we decided to go to the hospital.

Bubbles, Grammy and a dog...hours of entertainment.

Ben's list

I made a list a few weeks before Rémy was born....so here's Ben's list. And a picture taken about a week ago @ 37 weeks...

8 assignments due by that date
5 weeks until Walker gets any vacation time
2 birthday parties

900 cups of ice I will consume by that time
